Crickets chirping in a midnight field

Under a star-studded black velvet blanket;

A million little cheerful musicians

Spreading comfort throughout a lonely night.

It's a treasure.
Take it for yourself
And tuck it away
For another time
When the night is silent.

Soft and green morning dew laden grass . . .

Run your hand gently across the blades

And feel the fresh dew as it washes

Your hands and freshens your soul.

It's a treasure.
Take it for yourself
And tuck it away
For another time
When the sun is hot
And the grass is dry.

Rays of light play hide and seek

Through the canopy of a maple tree

Above a shady bed where one

Can sit and rest and dream.

It's a treasure.
Take it for yourself
And tuck it away
For another time
When the limbs are bare,
Cold surrounds you,
And you feel the weight
Of your own sad heart
And its load of care.

Baby's sweet breath on your cheek

As you hold him close

Then look into his admiring eyes;

His learning, loving, trusting eyes,

And watch as he can't hold back

A smile when he beholds you.

It's a treasure.
Take it for yourself
And tuck it away
For another time
When life shapes
Different looks upon the face
Or chooses to close the eyelids
For one last time . . .

Love,

WOW Barbie,
that is way deep and very solemn, very...inclusive.
Thank you for bringing your thoughts to us.
Love and blessings,

Zane

I love all of your poems Barbie... but this one really hit home today. Here we are completely surrounded by magnificent treasure and most of the time we're so pre-occupied we don't even see it.

I'll be counting my treasures today... ;)

Just found this and read it two or three times. So beautifully written Barbie.

Love the intention, and the way your words
are seen upon the page. Almost like holding
a book in my hands and the feel of it, as well as what you
wrote .... hard to describe -

Well worth reading again - thanks, Laura

I'm sorry, my thanks is way over due. :(

Thank you Zane. I'm glad you appreciated my thoughts and the depth.

Ron, you always make me feel appreciated and for that I thank you. I, too, get in a hurry and fail to stop and appreciate and absorb. How tragic it is when it becomes to late. May we all keep counting, every day.

Laura Sue, thank you. Your comment was very thoughtful and beautiful.

Love to you,
Barbie
