Sometimes lips whose soft touch
Warmed you,
Told you what you needed/wanted to hear,
Spoke words of love and tenderness,
Are not so dear.
Things happen . . .
And those same lips can cut and sear.
The world's not perfect.

Sometimes those people that you love
To the point you'd give your life, if necessary,
To save them
Can disappoint, let you down, betray your trust.
The world's not perfect.

I look at you, you look at me--
We see what we want to see,
Or maybe what we need to see,
But let us not stop believing
That we both are still striving
To do our best. We must keep trying
To earn and learn to trust.
The world's not perfect.

But it can be.

No... it is not perfect.

We are hurt and we hurt. Some never want you to forget and some can never be forgotten. I believe all things should make us vitally aware and mature in who we are!

I don't know when you wrote this... but it is indeed... very honest. My loving thanks to you for reposting (((Barbie))))

Thank you ((((Janice)))). I wrote it a little over 4 years ago. But I could have written it years before or years since and it probably wouldn't be any different. It was appropriate for that time in my life and still appropriate today except that eyes are opened wider and see clearer now. Life is ever changing and learning doesn't stop. Hearts do change and hardness does soften.
