What are you circling around

Dear friends,

My friend Bella http://beyondthemap.blogspot.com introduced me to this exercise based on Rainer Maria Rilke's words...

Rilke in his *Book of Hours* (translated by Robert Bly):

"I am circling around God, around the ancient tower, and I have been circling for a
thousand years, and I still don't know if I am a falcon, or a storm, or a
great song."

Here is Bella's version....

I am circling around my deepest knowing, around the still quiet voice, around listening and trusting what it is I hear there, and I have been circling for a thousand mornings, and I still don’t know if I am a lightening storm or a new born baby, or the rings inside the tree trunk, arc after arc telling us her stories.


Here is my version....

I am circling around the fire, circling like the dappled moths do through a thousand deep nights,

And I still dont know, if i am the passionate spark, the silent witness, or the nameless light.
