For me, I'll share a meal with a homeless kid.

A great question Muchoki!!! I think many of us have a secret stash of little things we do to hopefully lift other people's spirits... especially the people we live and work with on a regular basis.
But when we take it to the next level... when we start thinking about the people we don't know... the so-called 'strangers'... that's where the challenge, and the fun is!!

That is a great question! There have been times when I have tried to reach out to strangers through a smile, a word, or a gesture, and I have nearly always found my smile or gesture returned in a positive way. But there have also been times when I have held back from reaching out to people because of my own self consciousness or for fear of encountering a hostile response. You have reminded me to put my own feelings aside and, as Ron says, 'take it to the next level' by thinking of the person who may need that smile, that gesture of reassurance, that cup of coffee, that hot meal, or that word of kindness. I will take it to the next level during 2013 and I'm sure it will be amazing!

I'm on a shoestring budget, but it costs nothing to be kind to a stranger just by saying hello, how are you? or thank you, if that person does something nice for you first. How about you do what I did? I held the door open foir several people at the alley where I bowl while waiting for my handicapped-accessible bus. Almost everyone thanked me for it and that brought a smile to MY face AND theirs!

I would really like to do more volunteer work. I have signed up for a soup kitchen. This will also be the first year I donate blood.
