I impose upon my shadow to leave me at last
It is she that anchors me still to the earth
Akin to a black and faint presentiment
That accompanies me, present even at night

And now I fly – free I soar over the smoking flues
Of the many and diverse structures by me built
Black and white clouds I traverse, breathing the tang
Acrid, thick just as that of burnt wood, my eyes tear

Sweet at times as incense, serene pleasure pervades me
Return then, my shadow, chain me once again to the earth
So that I may smother the fire burning so acridly
Intense is the struggle!

But she does not respond
I keep ascending, ethereal
With my hesitations
Towards the unknown

PS.... I love your avatar.... I may have mentioned this before but I can totally see the word 'love' written in the clouds and it reminds me of that poem Maithri shared with us called Pick Up Your Pen.
