As anger stares
Love sits patiently
And smiles at all at the table
Frustration paces the room
Sorrow stifles a sniffle
Compassion sits next to her
Gently holding her hand
Lust looks at everyone
Humour wants to crack a joke
But sarcasm has just entered the room
Followed by fear.
“Are we all here”? asks Greed
Who co chairs the meeting
With Kindness
Who sits very close to him
“Hatred is an apology”
Whispers Sorrow, with tears in her eyes
And anger curses under his breath.
But love smiles.
The room is hushed
“Can we carry on without Hatred?” asks Sarcasm
And Humour cracks up laughing.
While lust looks at everyone.
“What is the purpose of this meeting anyway” asks fear
“a damn wast of time” retorts anger
“The last one was a disaster’!
And everyone remembers the first meeting for awhile
When the meeting broke up after 5 minutes
Due to the behaviour of hatred and anger.
“But I need hatred to be here” cries fear
“me too” screams anger “and would ya stop the staring!”
And lust closes her eyes
While humour chuckles away
And sorrow feels safer
Watching Sarcasm relax a little now.
“What do you fear guys?” asks greed
Looking at fear and anger in the face
“I am not too sure I can function without Hatred” whispers anger
‘That’s it! Same for me really” adds fear
Again some silence as these words are digested by all.
“Thank you for sharing this” says kindness
“Your honesty is refreshing and appreciated”
Lust was amazed to see a trace of a smile
On the weathered face of fear
And no one cared
When sarcasm and humour burst out laughing
And even frustration relaxed
Then Love spoke
softly
“today hatred is not present, and I tell you now
Where hatred is not present there is hope
But one can not meet Hatred with anger or fear
Or sarcasm for that matter
I do realise what many of you fear the most
Is the fact that without hatred
You become obsolete. You disappear
On a certain level this is true
But you are all energy that is never-ending
But without hatred your energy is channelled elsewhere
Look at you Fear! Look at the amazing energy you have
And you too Anger. Your enthusiasm is to be admired
Your energy has moved people and indeed moved nations
So think what your energy could do in the absence of hatred and fear”
Fear gulped!
“so don’t think of yourself becoming extinct
You simply are reborn. For there is no death”
Sarcasm was tempted but remained silent
Suddenly the door burst open
And hatred entered the room
Love stood and embraced hatred
Who trembled with anger
And so they sat for awhile
In silence at this conference of emotions
And stillness spoke
There was an unspoken knowing
Of a common energy
That could be channelled for good
And change their world
And as they were about to leave
There was a tap at the door
“ah” said love “our guest speaker”
Hatred opened the door
And let forgiveness in.
