Moving through this charade;
just another day.
The canopy of leaves above us sifts the sunlight that reflects off the windshield,
as we pass along the unmarked boundaries of our life.
Just another way for us to spend the time together,
Happy, sad, whatever.

Anytime I look at you or you at me,
we look away.
Under the spell of samba dancing ripples of light spill across your face
and you were there a moment ago but then you slipped away.
I feel like clouds drifting in your otherwise perfect sky, and it is just another day.

Hand in hand we walk the prescribed paths
but we are more alone than together,
lost in separate thoughts,
taking the trip for quite divergent reasons.
I fear you only wanted a companion to share your life,
your bed, but not your heart, and never in your head.
I chose you to be in your atmosphere,
in your presence, whenever you appear, if even for a moment,
I penetrate past your glance
and your sunlight melts through my doubt and makes my heart to sing.
But only for a moment and then you slip away.
But only for a moment and then you slip away...

I entered with love in mind and heart,
but just like any other day,
that dream, that vision turns and burns
and wisps of smoke are all that is left
and the perfume of a love left standing in the halls,
to molder in an odd and quite unstately way.

The samba flows slowly away,
out the door and just another day in every way,
memories of time spent,
hearts on the shelf, locked away.

My gaze passes over you but like a shadow you slip away.
How can I forget and yet have I missed you or forgotten you in some way?

Maybe I’ll never know,
maybe it was there but slipped away…
Words whispered like passion in the night cannot rekindle a flame that slipped away,
on this, just another day.

This is some powerful poetry Zep... very sad, but beautifully written and makes me realize how important it is to cherish the beautiful moments and people in our lives while we have still them.

Thank you for sharing this.

So deep...it gives a new meaning every time I read it...So beautiful..
The only bliss that we possess on earth is loving God and knowing that He loves us...

*Heartfully* captured! Loyalty in the sad separation of all that was and still is, although confined in a cherished and perished awareness.

My thanks also for your skillful sharing.
