A Message to My Child

They say a poem's not really a poem until you share it with someone else. And that's what this place is all about.

Constant is this mother’s love-
Open heart and open arms;
Mistakes always forgiven
Even before forgiveness is asked.

Home is within the heart--
One never really leaves;
Memories are cherished;
Every person’s place is kept.

Whatever happens
However they do
Everywhere you go
Remember we love you
Each and every one.

You may make mistakes
Or mistakes may make you.
Understand it for what it is.

Anytime you fear
Rejection, perhaps it is just an
Error in judgement.

Love for you was born before you.
Our hearts shared more than the pregnancy.
Vibrations of your life
Even now are felt
Daily and nightly.

Unconditional love is all I know.
Never want to know anything else.
Children are a gift.
One that I cherish
Now and forever.
Don’t ever feel
I will judge you unmercifully.
There was a time that I too was a child--
Innocent, and guilty of foolish mistakes.
Only to learn, that they were lessons.
Never disregard them, lest they repeat.
And always know;
Life is not finite.
Love isn’t either.
Your mother will love you forever.

As a man, I can only imagine love that a mother has for her child... this poem helps me imagine it that much better. The ideas are beautifully expressed Barb, and I really enjoyed the place this poem took me. ;-)

You have a very beautiful Mother Heart. Your children are privileged to have come through life with your love and guidance! You've expressed your heart and given a life-filling recipe of successful motherhood. I admire you greatly!

Wish I could hug all my boys at once this very moment like I used to when all four would pile into my lap at once!

Thank you ((((STAReye)))). That was a beautiful tribute to mothers and a wonderful way to start my morning. The tune is still going through my head and I LOVE it!

(((Janice))), thank you for your sweet words. I only expressed what I know to be in your heart for your children as well. Your children are truly blessed to have you watching over them and praying for them and loving them every day. I have always admired your mothering and now grandmothering. <3

(((David and Ron))), thank you. Now I have to go soak my head so it doesn't swell. :p luv

I wrote this for my oldest son that just returned from Afghanistan and is going through some things. I wanted him to know that we love him unconditionally and always will, and he can always come to us. I wrote the letters on the left side first then formed a "poem" around them. It was scary, lol. So your comments are very much appreciated.
