A kite for you

They say a poem's not really a poem until you share it with someone else. And that's what this place is all about.

Brave though I might have been,
I cast my words upon you like a kite to the wind.
With good intentions I let them go
and with fear I tied a string to this kite
that other words might yet return to me.

Tonight I understood, that what has been given must be released without expectation, so that another might find the kite I launched and lost, that they might too learn to fly.

Dear wind carry the words that were shared with me, to another that they too might also feel the joy of sharing... For if I truly never let go, then the gift is simply a pompous self-worship of my own imagined virtues.

I set my kite upon the wind and I let it go.
May joy visit you and in your countenance may it show.
When you get the courage to trust, let go your kite and walk away and learn to give once more upon another windy day.

An intriguing piece; enjoyed the analogy of fling words into the air as flying a kite.

I actually can't help but hope you find a "kite" that surpasses the expectation you had with your first flight of those words! :D:
