Stone Cold Sober

They say a poem's not really a poem until you share it with someone else. And that's what this place is all about.

Some men resort to violence and war...
Indeed the wise have written that there is a season for that,
but truely blessed is the man or woman
who can bring others two-gether
and by the sweat of the brow
and by the sweat of the spirit sort out the problems and work towards solutions.
I can't say I have the same problems;
I just ain't stone cold sober any more...

Maybe,
Ain't no fable, I am unable...
If I leave you I will have to be stone cold sober.

Wrenched away from you, drunk on your love...
I don't want to have to do this over and over!
I just can't remain anonymous about you, us...
You and me, drunk on each other; drunk on life.
Stone cold sober is not where I want to be.
I want to drink you in.
I want to live life!

I don't want to be condemmed to a cubicle of one,
with smiles and nods for walls.
Dying inside slowly,
waiting for contact;
life slipping from my vessel...

Why would I want to leave this apartment of love with so many moods, so many spaces yet unexplored; so much of love yet unseen...
I can't go stone cold unless I am six feet under,
but then I'd be buried in your heart;
kept warm with the everlasting wine of your love.

Solo I ain't gonna go,
stone cold sober ain't the way,
so I will stay drunk on your love
and sail into a warm oblivion,
safe, and open ended.
Such a never-ending future of love I shall not escape.
I shall not compromise and miss a moment of your bliss...
I don't need sobriety to keep this promise, any day is a good day in moonlight or sunlight as long as I can see my reflection,
in your eyes.

Love is always ...quite simply.... lovely! THanks for sharing your heart's adoring peace/piece.

Zep
Thanks for sharing this. I loved it not only for what is said but also for what is unsaid. The simple straightforward truth that there is only one path for you to follow. The smiles and nods for walls as you wait for contact is imagery I identity with. Thanks again
