We Will Meet Again

They say a poem's not really a poem until you share it with someone else. And that's what this place is all about.

We will meet again when my hair
is glistening in waving white curls
And my breasts are no longer perky
but smoothly settle down upon my rolling torso.
When my smile crinkles a splay of lines
at the unmakeuped edges of my green eyes
And I walk slowly with a great grandchild
clasping my hand and only reaching 3 inches past my knee.

We will meet again when the sun rises and
drips its heat into the sunflowers of summer
Or as the frozen clouds paint frosty mosaic
on the kitchen windows before coffee is brewed.
When new stars blink open in breathtaking wonder
and several more burn out from telescopic view
Or while the wind reveals secrets no one ever heard
but everywhere babies always knew.

We will meet again when the path to hope winds
through the tall oaks covered in thick mosses
Over the arching rock and cobble bridge that
leans slightly to the left making you favor right.
You shall scan the meadow with all the lilies
and ripe grasses that wave in the breeze
Over your shoulder you will hear my breath and
you will know that I am waiting just beyond…

Love Janice

Oh, gosh, I am spellbound, dear Janice.

You have me in tears, this is so tremendously beautiful and moving. I am just in such a mood to be highly sensitive and you just touched my heart at its very core.

Love and hugs.
Be well!

A brilliant poem Janice... I love the images you've created... and it also has a beautiful rhythm. Makes me want to read it again and again. ;-)

Thanks Virginia, Margherita, Ron and Sparrow! Very glad you loved and were emotionally moved by my writing... I didn't try... I just felt it. Had the beginning 2 lines run over and over in my mind all day and in the night... Walla!!! Touched the keys and unlocked the unknown words that needed to spill out of my soul. :)

Greatly appreciate your comments.

Dear Janice,

Just found this as I peruse the forum. Ohhhhhhhh, it is wonderful.

Like others, I was moved to tears. I know I will read this one again.

Thank you for posting it here and so glad I found it.

Gentle hugs, Laura

Janice :D

I was hoping the Peak provided kleenex - I'm laughing.

No worries, I have plenty here.

Wishing you an easy day ~ Love, Laura

I was just looking back in time..... I weep this time differently.... Our dear Margherita passed away several months ago.... it is she who waits with some of her loved ones and awaits all who have crossed her path in life ......

You were a preciously dear woman Margherita... my heart is full of loving respect for you ... for your words which you generously shared from the depths of your soul and extended in such rich beauty to ours ... until.... dear Margherita... until we meet finally... and again. xo
