It's Christmas time, there's no need to be afraid
At Christmas time, we let in light and we banish shade
And in our world of plenty we can spread a smile of joy
Throw your arms around the world at Christmas time

But say a prayer, Pray for the other ones
at Christmas time
it's hard, but when you're having fun
there's a world outside your window
and it's a world of dread and fear
where the only water flowing is
the bitter sting of tears

And the Christmas bells that ring there
are the clanging chimes of doom
Well tonight thank God it's them
instead of you

And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmas time
The greatest gift they'll get this year is life
Where nothing ever grows
no rain nor rivers flow
Do they know it's Christmas time at all?

Here's to you
Raise a glass for everyone
Spare a thought this yuletide for the deprived
If the table was turned would you survive
Here's to them
Underneath that burning sun
You ain't gotta feel guilt just selfless
Give a little help to the helpless
Do they know it's Christmas time at all?

Feed the world
Feed the world

Feed the world
Let them know it's Christmas time
Feed the world
Let them know it's Christmas time

Wikipedia says:
"Do They Know It's Christmas?" is a song written in 1984 by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure in reaction to television reports of the 1983–85 famine in Ethiopia.
the lyrics spoke for itself.
i found several slightly different lyrics from many sources, maybe because it was recorded several times so there are several versions of the song.

This song moved me deeply from the very first time I heard it. at christmas time, maybe we are celebrating, but "There's a world outside your window where the greatest gift they'll get this year is life. Do they know it's Christmas time at all?"

Mella,
This is one of my favorite songs. I wish I could help all the unfortunate ones, but living on SSI and SSD it is sometimes it is a struggle just to support myself.

Thanks Davidf for leaving a comment here!

i'm hoping the best for your situation.
sometimes i find it hard as well to help the less fortunate ones, while my family also needs it. but then, every once in while, i took a chance to help them in other ways i can, by presence, attention, and a little smile. sometimes it means a lot for them and encourage them to keep on living :)

regards,
melia
