Life is a Fire Burning

They say a poem's not really a poem until you share it with someone else. And that's what this place is all about.

Even when your world is blind
With oceans of atrocities
Even when nothing seems to hint
An iota of hope,
Open your eyes as if you cannot sleep
And heave and sigh as your heart
Knowing that life is a fire
Burning without ashes crumbling
And take a moment to seek His guidance
And make one forward leap
Towards your dreams
Kindle tiny lamps to light
Your journey, step by step
Break the hurdles like falling rain
Where dark, grey clouds abound
Never look back on yesterday
For there are many tomorrows
Waiting to break your fall.

I like your lines:

Knowing that life is a fire
Burning without ashes crumbling

Oddly .... just as the strife we have in life can definitely create strength in a person... ash has some very nutritional qualities for growing plants. There seems to always be a spark of hope... even amidst the perception of a helpless tomorrow..... but as you've written.... tomorrow is waiting to break your fall. THank you for this writing!

Very well written piece. The last three lines caught my attention:

Never look back on yesterday
For there are many tomorrows
Waiting to break your fall.

Sometimes we have to look back to realise just how far we have come or if we've moved forward at all and, without wishing to sound negative or pessimistic, who really knows just how many tomorrows anyone has to go. The poem reminds me a little of the story in literature of the mystical bird known as the Phoenix that rises from its own ashes.
