what lies in store for me?
an untread road ahead me lies.
where have my decisions brought me?
I take one look back
at the road my footsteps
have taken me down this time.
And reminisce about
the times of innocence.
As I turn back to what's ahead,
This new road ahead curves and winds
out of sight and out of mind.
Brightly lit, yet shrouded in shadow
are the forthcoming times.
No one can know what the future holds.
All we can do is hope,
hope that the paths we take
lead to a life long dreamt of.
My actions and decisions
have led me here today.
Somehow I feel destined to be here
and yet hesitate on discovery's edge
and take the deep breath before the plunge.
That flighty temptress Adventure
calls to us one and all.
To run and to fall
is easiest to do.
But to return to your feet
is what makes character ring true.

Those deep breaths really do gather one together in preparation and calm don't they! I read this out loud... wonderful poem that transmits what is felt within my soul... purpose, hesitation, determination and sucess in moving on. Getting up on our feet and continuing is the essence of the resiliant human spirit. Some might huddle for a time in tears or terror... but even the weakness so many feel... is it not a continuation? For the longing to finish our human plight however it will conclude... is a hope for so much more.

The pictures your words invent within my mind's eye are beautiful and ominous both as I do my own looking back and forward. Strangely enough... the ominous is what lies behind... but is also enfolded with precious gentle touches of rich beauty that is breathtaking! What lies ahead... sends my stomach to butterflies these days... for Hope is determining my steps and the shadows be danged!!!!

What a beautiful write and how I can relate to this. May be we all can. Ain't life all about this hope and survival...?
I loved this...may be I needed to hear this today...
Love,
Indrani.
