One’s Load

Heavy is the load some days
Son withering away with disease
Depression glomming down from above
Sadness permeating one’s very being
All seemingly hopeless

Light is the load some days
Son recovering from his –isms
Gladness arising from the earth
Joy drifting into every cell
All seemingly perfect

Yet, for all of that
One’s load is one’s load
One picks it up and carries it one day’s worth
Till it is time to rest, to sleep
Then awaken, ready to lift one’s load again

Dear (((((((Fred))))))) this brought tears, it is so deeply poignant. "One's load" no doubt is very much felt especially when it relates to our children. Every sigh becomes a prayer.

I want to reach out with a big hug, so that we can share - even if just for a moment - each other's "load".
