I lie awake
And listen to the rattle
Of a train on distant tracks
Its whistle
Fading
To
A
Whisper
Far
Away
In the stillness of the night
I hear the hum
Of a hundred human hearts
In homes surrounding ours
Immersed in dreams
Learning lessons from the day
I send a silent prayer aloft
On their behalf
In the stillness of the night
The click of the clock
On the bedroom wall
Beats in rhythm with my breath
An angel comes to me
Puts her hand in mine
And guides me back to sleep
Again...
All my best,
Ted
