Good morning, my neighbours!
Its Easter!
The epicenter of resurrection power
The defining message of Christianity
The peace of the Lord, the healing
The rebirth, the dawn of a new beginning
The victory over death, sorrow and tribulation
But, do they know it’s Easter?

As COVID-19 plague rages
And the world battles to contain the spread
Do we remember, it’s Easter
The sick and those afflicted by the plague
The responders and frontline workers
The families of those who are sick
The poor in our midst,
Those who feel the brunt of the lockdown
Unable to pay bills, burdened
The little child with pangs of hunger
Do they really know it’s Easter?


Our neighbours who do not know God
They have no hope of a better tomorrow
The disillusioned among us, those who live in error
The misguided, young and old
The down trodden, oppressed by the vicissitudes of life
The poorest of the poor
Those who die because of hunger
And because they can’t afford to pay for basic medicines
The masses, who stare at death everyday
Do they feel the power and the glory of Easter?
Do they rejoice and celebrate?
Do they have hope for a better world
Its Easter, do they know?

Those who run corporations
Those who run governments
Those who run the world
And determine the fate of many across the globe
The wealthy and influential
The leaders in different spheres of life
The managers of resources
Those who claim to see tomorrow
Those who are called to serve God
Do they really know it’s Easter?
Can they make it happen for those who don’t know?
Can we make the world better
Can we tell them it’s Easter
In word and deeds
And guide them to a better tomorrow
